Gainako on-line Newspaper (GON) Motto: Guardianship & Independence |
Gainako's editorial received several mixed reactions from our readership on the Execution of Former Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein. Some celebrated his death by expressing that justice has taken its course against someone who allegedly committed so many human genocides against his own citizens and neighbors. Others were hesitant about the timing of the execution to coincide with the Muslim celebration of Edul Adha (Feast of Blood Sacrifice). As the world reacts to this execution, many also expressed doubt as to whether capital punishment was the right form of punishment to be handed to such brutal dictators like Saddam. Several legal and religious scholars also added their skepticism on whether justice was seen to be carried out in full. By executing Saddam on a single incident, leaving out victims like the Kudis, the Kuwaits, Sunnis and many Iranians cases uninvestigated. As the Pop Said “Two wrongs never make a right”. At Gainako, we strictly oppose death by hanging. Sadam should have been jailed. We understand the feelings of the many Iraqis whose tears dripped as a result of alleged tyranny, but killing him is like resting his soul. The timing of the whole event with the Muslim feast was also disheartening. The Al-Malik Government and his allies should have known better. A Government out to unify a country must recognize all the different religious sects. ..© Copyright, 2006-2007: Gainako On-line Newspaper . Site Maintained by Gamway Computers |
