Dear Editors,
As a government worker within the Justice department, I with many others have been expecting that our Chief Justice Emmanuel Agim will be arrested, investigated and placed before a proper court of law for not only violating Gambian law, norms, values and tradition but also with gross misappropriation of public funds. Since this man was hired as a mercenary prosecutor to jail innocent Gambians opposed to the regime of President Jammeh, he has succeeded in delivering the goods in that respect and as a result earned the love of Jammeh.
Agim as a prosecutor unlawfully implicated many Gambians who ended up in jail and
these men are still languishing imprisoned without a single appeal, thus forcing the
Foroyaa Newspaper calling for those inmates to be brought before the courts without
delay. But Jammeh careless about such calls. We are aware that Agim is merely out
there looking for money and not justice. I once remember him calling Gambians odd
names and calling for the jailing of opposition leader lawyer Darboe and some
journalists.
However it is fair to mention that Agim’s quest for jailing Darboe and some of those
journalists was masterminded not only by Jammeh and the likes of Agim but also
Cheyasin Secka, Joseph Joof, Fatoumatta Jahumpha Ceesy, Major Bojang, Famara Jatta,
Baba Jobe and several corrupt NIA officers. We in the Justice department knows these
men are common criminals and the majority of those they put in jail are innocent law
abiding citizens. Investigations in his same department have revealed that Agim
is useless in his country of Nigeria but Jammeh and his NIA officials ignored such
facts thus allowing this man to unleash mayhem on the poor Gambians.
Now Agim is even free to lecture Gambian journalists about press freedom which is
unbelievable. Thanks to the Gambia journal based in the US for denouncing these
particular lecture. Agim has been tormenting Gambians for far too long now but he is
not in our country over these years on his own, so a campaign against injustices
should start now.
The big question is where is the millions of Dalasi Agim and others closed to him
stole from accused persons over the years? These monies were illegally stolen
ranging from drug exhibits, personal properties and raw cash? Everybody here was
keenly waiting for Agim’s arrest and imprisonment because the evidence is there for
everyone to see- instead innocent Gambians civil servants were the scapegoats and
jailed for no reason. These innocent men are denied access to lawyers prompting
people asking what a horrible country we are living now!
How can Agim preach about press freedom when he openly violates the rights of
journalists and even campaigned for their imprisonment.
What is wrong with the GPU inviting a criminal as guest speaker; a man demanding for
the eradication of press men and women; a man who should be behind bars for
criminality. Where are the decent Gambian professions to help speak on behalf of our
brave and hard working journalists? Is this political or something? What a sorry
state!
Well Agim is now writing books and using the names of Gambians to make money when he
busy helping Jammeh to jail the same Gambian. I urged the media abroad to start a
campaign against this man and all those criminals like him in our Justice
department. Remember without justice there will be an unfortunate event in this
country- so let us act before it is too late. Agim the criminal must go!
