God's gift ; By Yero Jallow, USA

Precious, O so precious
God's beautiful gift
Called children of Adam
Dating to the time of creation
Till day of returning.

Brigadier Tamba Must Act Now!

By Yero Jallow, USA

I was dizzled to death that Tamba could see the elders of his village
of birth (Sintet) arrested and tortured in Kanillai including his own
family members without protesting in the open, knowing with a
knowledge of certainty that Jammeh and his fetish idealogy are dead
wrong!

Special Tribute to Dr. Lenrie Peters

Ode to that iconic hero of times
Who lived to bash best poetry props
Cracking the aging baobab trees aloud
And sailing boats on Atlantic waters
By his mighty unshakeable pen of times
And down by the “Kachikally” of Bakau
Where the pool of crocodiles reigns
He saw the friendly white crocodiles.

Neigh, the Victory!

By Yero Jallow

As I stand on my prayer mat
I could hear aloud the destiny angel
Coming down to mother earth
In rescue for the stolen liberty
To end the times of oppression
As I humbly pray in serene moods
I could hear aloud "Kun fayaa kuun"
From that Lord, most high.

The Hyena and a Hare: An Epic of an African (Gambian) Traditional Story.

In the Gambia, one of the many countries in Africa, children are
nurtured and taught traditional values in forms transferred to
succeeding generations. Most of it has not been written, so it is
being lost after most of the best narrators die. One common one,
typical of any spoken language in Africa is the story of the Hyena and
the Hare. It is believed that the Hare is a wise animal, and the Hyena
a goofy and foolish sort of animal. Most stories narrated portray the
Hyena as a fool, and the Hare as a wise animal that championed human
wisdom used in daily practical life applications. It is not
necessarily that the Hyena is foolish at all, but its aggression and
tendency to prey on other animals with such insensitivity including
humans makes it a feared animal. Here, the story goes and this is
directly translated from traditional story-telling in the Gambia.

Million Man March Poem

The night has been long,
The wound has been deep,
The pit has been dark,
And the walls have been steep.

Under a dead blue sky on a distant beach,
I was dragged by my braids just beyond your reach.
Your hands were tied, your mouth was bound,
You couldn't even call out my name.
You were helpless and so was I,
But unfortunately throughout history
You've worn a badge of shame.

The Many Eyes of Love

Love, of the heart and mind, has many eyes,
Eyes that can penetrate the most solid walls,
Traveling with speed through thick and thin,
Seeing beyond reality and imagination.
